Dear Crystal,
What do you do for exercise?
Christie Laming
Dear Christie,
I usually like to run and do yoga. And a little Pilates. But I've just been working around the house. Primarily, that's been my exercise.
Dear Crystal,
What is Olivia's biggest fear of being a mother?
kathy
Dear kathy,
I think that her biggest fear was probably being able to make the right sacrifices for her child. But I think that she's doing okay. It's a weird thing, but I think she loves this child more than any man that's ever come along in her life. And it's probably the healthiest love she's ever experienced. And she will do everything she can to make sure this baby is loved and safe.
Dear Crystal,
I was wondering is it easy to be Olivia? I mean, her passion and emotion that you give us viewers. Do you have to dig deep inside to get your fuel, or can you turn it off and on like a switch? Either way you are amazing!!
Monica
Dear Monica,
Thank you, Monica. It's fun to play her, but... I don't know. I didn't like being the odd man out in the show, but now it's kind of fun because I feel like I can do a lot with her. I don't have the limitations that other people have with their characters. I feel like I can do anything. So that's fun for me. I actually have a readily available on and off switch, because you get caught up in a storyline, especially if you're playing somebody who can be very dark or emotionally messed up. You can't let yourself sit there, or else you'll go crazy. You'll internalize. And you can't help but internalize. You have to be able to keep the parameters of your job. I would not enjoy this if I couldn't turn it off. I sure as hell don't want to be one of those actors who takes it home, but also says, 'My character wouldn't do this.' I think that is probably one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard an actor say. 'My character wouldn't do this.' [On soaps,] we're walking through paintings. We're time-traveling. We're burying people alive. People are trying to kill people. And then they turn around and rapists like [ONE LIFE TO LIVE's] Todd Manning are the hero. I just think that in order to keep daytime thriving, you have to [change]. And the viewers will go with it. Don't you think? They have for years and years and years. They like to see evolution. And they'll let Roger Thorpe be [a jerk] forever. They love that stuff. So I think that limitations are really difficult.
Dear Crystal,
I think you're such a terrific actress and have added so much to the show. You seem to have gone from the much-hated villainess to someone fans all kind of sympathize with and are secretly rooting for now. Which type of role do you prefer, the devil or angel?
Jessica Boyd
Dear Jessica,
I like the devil with a little bit of angel in it. Or the angel with a little bit of devil in it. I don't like black-and-white characters.
