CBS Daytime has announced a slight interruption of the drama on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and a rescheduling of the excitement on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL on Monday, Aug. 21, due to the solar eclipse! CBS News is planning to begin broadcasting their coverage of the first total solar eclipse since 1979 at 1 p.m. ET, and it will continue until 3 p.m., which will affect the usual daytime lineup.
With only a half-hour in which to work, CBS Daytime will be airing the regular episode of B&B in Y&R’s time slot at 12:30 p.m. ET just before the news coverage begins. And Y&R will be preempted on that day so when you tune in on Tuesday, you don’t have to worry that you’ve missed a moment of the action in Genoa City.

Because GENERAL HOSPITAL airs in different areas across the country, ABC has also chosen to preempt the show on Monday so that no one will miss out. So if you do find GH airing in your location, don’t worry when you see that it’s a rerun from July 25! And over on NBC, the network is leaving the decision up to their local affiliates the option as to whether to air their special news programming or the regular daytime slate, so depending on where you live, you may be able to watch DAYS OF OUR LIVES on TV in its regular slot or you may have to seek it out online or on demand.
You can also enjoy the first total solar eclipse in almost four decades, but please make sure to be careful! Get all the details about when, where, and how to watch in this comprehensive guide!
