THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Peter Porte Finds Love in a New Movie!

When he was on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, Peter Porte’s character of Ricky turned out to be a psychopath, but in the actor’s new movie, Love at the Shore, he plays a cool, laid-back surfer dude who finds unlikely romance! “I think it’s a very sweet, charming film,” he told Soaps In Depth of the TV movie which premieres Saturday. Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET on the Hallmark Channel.

Of course, despite playing a surfer, Porte admits he didn’t actually ride any waves during the filming of the movie. “We only had 15 days to shoot it, so there wasn’t much time to teach someone to surf for the first time,” he admitted. Plus, the film wasn’t shot in a location known for its surfing! “It’s shot in Savannah, which is one of my favorite Southern cities,” Porte revealed before adding, “so we didn’t have very good waves.”

Love at the Shore tells the story of Jenna Thompson, played by THE MENTALIST’s Amanda Righetti, who is a recently divorced mother of two anxious to finish writing her novel. “So she rents out a house by the shore,” Porte previewed, “which she didn’t know is part of a duplex and a shared space with another guy. Enter me and my character, Lucas. Right off the bat, they do not get along — they are polar opposites.”

Naturally, his interactions with her children and her interactions with her laid-back new neighbor lead them both to re-evaluate their lives. And Righetti wasn’t Porte’s only big co-star in the movie — his pet is played by “Happy the Dog,” Hallmark Channel’s two-year-old adopted Jack Russell Terrier mix. The network is showcasing rescue animals in some of their projects to demonstrate the love shelter pets can bring.

“He knows all of his tricks, he hits his mark, he’s super sweet,” Porte gushed of his four-legged castmate. “He’s amazing.”

The actor believes soap fans will fall in love with the romantic summer movie, so tune in to see how these two opposites attract in Love at the Shore on the Hallmark Channel. And if you can’t wait until Saturday night, check out this sneak preview below!
