The Writers Guild Of America Awards have announced their nominees for the year, and in the Daytime Drama category, both THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and GENERAL HOSPITAL have earned nominations!
As a half-hour soap, B&B was able to submit two episodes, so the episodes featuring Maya's confession to Rick that she is a transgender woman as well as the later episode where Rick and Maya tied the knot garnered the soap its very first WGA nomination. The B&B team consists of head writers Bradley P. Bell and Michael Minnis as well as writers Rex M. Best, Shannon Bradley, Adam Dusevoir, Tracey Ann Kelly, Patrick Mulcahey, Mark Pinciotti and Michele Val Jean.
GH's writing team of Ron Carlivati, Anna Theresa Cascio, Andrea Archer Compton, Suzanne Flynn, Kate Hall, Elizabeth Korte, Daniel James O'Connor, Elizabeth Page, Jean Passanante, Katherine Schock, Scott Sickles and Chris Van Etten were nominated for the episode celebrating the soap's 52nd anniversary that aired on April 1. Current cast members took on past roles to recreate scenes from GH's very first episode that aired on that day in 1963.
Winners will be announced at the WGA awards ceremony to be held on Saturday, February 13 at simultaneous ceremonies on both the East and West Coasts. Best of luck to both shows!
