Happy Birthday to AS THE WORLD TURNS star Martha Byrne, who turns 46 today!

The actress began her career as a child star, appearing in the Broadway musical Annie as one of the orphans and also the sci-fi film Anna To The Infinite Power.

But daytime audiences know her best as Lily Snyder on ATWT, a role she played for 23 years, having started in 1985 as a teenager. When then-headwriter Douglas Marland paired rich girl Lily Walsh with farmhand Holden Snyder, a super couple was born and Byrne became a soap star.

Over the years, Byrne played love triangles (Holden/Lily/Dusty), long-lost twins (Atlantic City showgirl Rose D'Angelo) and her son Luke's coming out.

She has earned 10 Daytime Emmy nominations over the course of her career, winning three times. Once in 1987 for Outstanding Ingenue, in 2001 for Outstanding Lead Actress, and most recently in 2015 for Outstanding Performer In A New Approaches Drama Series for her work in the web series ANACOSTIA.
