Michael O’Leary Reveals How He Reunited His GUIDING LIGHT Co-Stars

Tags:

Some of the stars of GUIDING LIGHT are reuniting on the stage for a very special performance!

Michael O’Leary (Rick) has written a new one-act play called Breathing Under Dirt, which will be part of a festival of one-act plays premiering in March at the Manhattan Repertory Theater. “It’s about reaching forgiveness and reconciliation while we still have life,” the actor tells Soaps In Depth. “A heart can be healed when we accept the limitations of ourselves and others.”

The play stars Tina Sloan (Lillian) and Beth Chamberlin (Beth) in lead roles that they may find slightly familiar to their GL ones. “They are playing mother and daughter,” O’Leary reveals. “What a surprise! It’s a 1950s period piece. And it’s really them hashing out their own resentments and bitterness and trying to reconcile that.”

And Breathing Under Dirt is directed by another member of their GL family — Grant Aleksander! “This is the first time the four of us have gotten together since Rick cheated with Beth while Phillip was in the insane asylum!” O’Leary jokes.

The festival is running from March 16-19 at the Manhattan Repertory Theater at 303 West 42nd St., and tickets are $20, which includes all the one act plays, not just O’Leary’s. Tickets are available at the door or by e-mailing mrtreserve@gmail.com.
