NBC announced some amazing news for soap fans — DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been renewed for a 52nd season!
“It’s a great day in Salem!” cheered the show’s executive producer Ken Corday. “We’re pleased to announce that after more than 51 years in the hearts and homes of our amazing fans, DAYS will continue to be a part of the NBC family.”

“We are grateful to our incredible network and longstanding partner Sony for their continued support, and we look forward to what the future will bring under the new creative direction of the show,” Corday continued. “I’m especially proud to be able to shepherd DAYS into the new season, continuing my parents’ dream and the show’s legacy.”
DAYS first debuted on NBC in November of 1965, and became a television institution, celebrating its 13,000th episode this past January. However, its future was considered to be in jeopardy at the beginning of 2017 when rumors persisted that it would be canceled to make room on the daytime schedule for a new show hosted by Megyn Kelly. Just weeks later, at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, NBC execs gave fans hope that the network was still invested in DAYS and a renewal was possible.

Well, now it is official, and NBC has confirmed that there will be another year of drama to come! “We feel so privileged to be able to continue the remarkable legacy of DAYS,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “We thank Ken Corday and his team for their incredible accomplishments and look forward to all the stories from Salem that will continue to unfold.”
Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, Sony Pictures Television, added: “DAYS has a legacy of rich storytelling that has traveled across generations. Ken Corday and the cast and crew continue to deliver dynamic storylines and unforgettable performances, and we are proud to continue to bring this award-winning series to audiences both in the U.S. and around the world.”
So DAYS fans can take heart that the sands will continue falling through the hourglass for another season, and look forward to the upcoming storylines penned by new headwriter Ron Carlivati. And soap fans, in general, can celebrate that another daytime drama has avoided the axe!
