On THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, Yvonne Zima knocked our socks off as Sheila Carter's dangerous daughter, Daisy. Now, the actress is set to do it again when she stars opposite actor Shawn Roberts in Lifetime's _ The Girl He Met Online_. "It's a cautionary tale about on-line dating and I think warns against seeking love too desperately," Zima offers. "My character, Gillian, is constantly finding herself in relationships and not taking any time alone to recover... it culminates in disaster!"
In fact, the emotionally unstable gal is not even close to being the cat's meow that Andy (Roberts) thinks she is. While Zima clarifies that the character isn't as sadistic as Daisy, it was equally challenging to play. "I think she might have both bipolar disorder and a borderline personality," Zima suggests. "She's moody and she believes her own lies."
The situation could get complicated when Gillian's adoptive mother (Mary Margaret Humes) enters the picture, and Andy's sister pays a heavy price. Zima says that she was thrilled to work with the actress whose career she'd long followed. "I'm such a huge fan I was star struck because of knowing her from DAWSON'S CREEK. Working with her was also lovely because she is so similar to my older sister, Madeline."
The film's star is excited for her soap fans to see this tale ("They'll have a lot of fun watching it it's a wild ride but they might want to hate my character," she teases). But more importantly, she wants people to get the message. "I think everyone should see it because on-line dating has become so prevalent," she suggests. "My friends are on all the weird Web sites that I refuse to be a part of [now]." The Girl He Met Online premieres Saturday, February 8, at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
