David Hasselhoff returned to CBS Television City earlier this summer to reprise his THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS role of Snapper… and now he’s back at the lot once again as a DANCING WITH THE STARS contestant! (The ABC competition series tapes at the same facility as Y&R.) And it turns out, DANCING and Y&R share more than the same studio lot! “Y&R’s the greatest show I ever worked on,” Hasselhoff tells Soaps In Depth. “There’s a warm feeling there, much like I’m feeling here at DANCING.” What prompted the actor to tackle the foxtrot in Season 11 of the ABC hit? The encouragement of his daughters, Taylor-Ann and Hayley. “They said ‘You should really go for it,’” Hasselhoff reveals.
DANCING WITH THE STARS debuts with two nights of two-hour shows, Monday, September 20, and Tuesday, September 21, both at 8 p.m. EST. The series continues on Monday, September 27, at 8 p.m. in its regular two-hour timeslot, and the weekly one-hour results show will air on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST starting September 28.

Tickets are $75 and include a buffet breakfast and autograph opportunities. Catch Raines In Concert!
Raines brings Broadway to Tampa!
Ron Raines (Alan, GUIDING LIGHT) is teaming up with conductor and pianist Donald Pippin for the Legends Of Broadway concert on Saturday, September 11, at the Carrollwood Cultural Center in Tampa, FL. He’s a three-time Daytime Emmy nominee, but Raines is also a renowned veteran of Broadway and musical theater, so if you live in the area, you won’t want to miss this performance! Tickets are $75 for members, $100 for non-members, and can be purchased at www.CarrollwoodCenter.org or by calling the box office at (813) 269-1310.
Eden Riegel (Heather, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) will guest star on an episode of CASTLE this fall! The Daytime Emmy winner will play Rachel, the distraught sister of a man killed by an antique pistol, in the fourth episode of the ABC crime drama's new season, titled "Punked." While an air date for Riegel's appearance has yet to be determined, the third season of CASTLE is set to debut on Monday, September 20, at 10 p.m. EST.
Bell Is Replaced As Thomas! And A Y&R Exec Joins B&B's Staff!
Gregory takes on Thomas.
Drew Tyler Bell is out as THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Thomas! A show spokesperson confirms that Bell, who won an Emmy in June for his work in the role of Ridge and Taylor's son, is being replaced by 90210 star Adam Gregory. (He played Annie's ex and Adriana's babydaddy, Ty Collins.) Bell made his final appearance on Friday, August 27; Gregory will make his debut on Wednesday, September 22.
In other B&B news, former DAYS OF OUR LIVES and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS executive producer Ed Scott will join the soap's production team.
Nick & Sharon Get A New Son!
Abby's nephew is back in town!
Daytime newcomer Luke Kleintank has been tapped to play Noah on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. Sources report that Sharon and Nick's son, previously played by Kevin Schmidt, is also being slightly SORASed. While Y&R marks Kleintank's daytime debut, he does already have a soap connection: he had a three-episode arc as Elliot, the bi-sexual beau of Connor Paolo's Eric, this past season on GOSSIP GIRL. (Paolo played ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Travis.) A spokesperson for Y&R confirms that Kleintank will make his first appearance on Tuesday, September 21.
Emmy Winner Lands New Job!
West is moving to Genoa City!
Maura West (Carly) is the first AS THE WORLD TURNS star to land another daytime gig: The two-time Emmy winner has been cast as Diane on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! According to TV Guide, West will report to the Y&R set on September 1 — before ATWT's final episode even airs — and will debut as Victor and Jack's ex on Friday, October 8. The character of Diane was last seen in February when former portrayer Susan Walters made a brief appearance in the midst of the Patty/Emily storyline. Prior to Walters, Alex Donnelly played the part.
West hinted at the possibility of joining Y&R at the Daytime Emmy Awards in June, when she admitted that she was moving her family from Connecticut to Los Angeles. "If I were to stay in soaps, I would have to say that my loyalty is to CBS, which has been so loyal to me for years," she said. "That’s where my loyalty lies."
A show spokesperson tells Soaps In Depth that while West will bring Diane back to the Y&R canvas in October, there's no information at this time whether her son Kyle will be joining her.
John Visits!
Douglas first joined the Y&R cast in 1982.
Could THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Jack be getting a visit from his late father, John? Jerry Douglas has revealed via his Facebook page that he taped an episode of the soap yesterday, August 3. "The air date is September 2. Let my friends and fans know." Douglas has made the occasional visit, serving as Jack's conscience, ever since Y&R released the actor in 2006 and his character was killed off, even appearing as lookalike Alistair in 2008.
UPDATE: Douglas has announced on his Facebook page that there are more appearances ahead for his character! "They also called me for another show to be shot next month," he reveals. "I will give you all the air date when I receive it. Thanks for all your support, and your letters and e-mails to [executive producer] Maria Bell at Y&R. It certainly helps. The very BEST to each and every one of you."
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye
What news will Rosanna bring?
Look for Cady McClain to bring Rosanna back to Oakdale for AS THE WORLD TURNS' last week of episodes: The actress, who has played the character on and off since first joining the soap in 2002, will reprise the role one final time starting Tuesday, September 14.
Billy & Victoria Are Getting Hitched!
Meet ya'll at the sock hop after the ceremony!
THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS has a 1950s retro wedding planned for Billy and Victoria this fall! Last summer, the pair pledged their love to one another while watching a FATHER KNOWS BEST marathon on television. Now, a Y&R rep confirms, their relationship will come full circle when Elinor Donahue — who played teenage daughter Betty Anderson on the beloved series — makes a cameo appearance as Judge Anderson to officiate at Billy and Victoria's wedding! The scenes were shot on a picket-fence neighborhood on the CBS Studio lot that was once home to MY THREE SONS and LEAVE IT TO BEAVER! But the throwbacks don't stop there: Victoria's wedding dress is inspired by a gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1957 classic film Funny Face! Look for Donahue, who played evil Nurse Honeycutt on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in the ’80s — to appear on Wednesday, September 8.
A Very Brady Teacher!
Here's a story of a lovely teacher…
When J.T. and Victoria's son, Reed, returns to pre-school this fall on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, the tyke's teacher will be a very familiar face: Susan Olsen — aka Cindy from THE BRADY BUNCH — will play Mrs. Liza Morton, the school's owner. A spokesperson for Y&R confirms that Olsen will air on Wednesday, September 1, when Reed begins the new school year along with Billy and Chloe's little girl, Delia.
