Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) has no critic harsher than himself
GUIDING LIGHT’s Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) has stated many times in the past that he finds it extremely difficult to watch his own work. "Acting is an art form and because there are so many factors that go into every day and every episode, every day can’t be great," he explains. "I really don’t like to see the end result. I really just try to focus on the process."
Letting Go
Over the years, Stewart has adapted a "whatever happens, happens" attitude of sorts. "I put a lot of forethought into the scene, but then I really try to let it go and just do it," he notes. "And then, whatever happens while doing the scene, I try to let it happen and roll with it."
His Coping Strategy
The actor says that working in the soap industry has given him a valuable tool in dealing with his idiosyncrasy. "I think one of the greatest things I’ve learned in daytime is the ability to, once the cameras have stopped filming, let go of that day or that script and not obsess about it. Otherwise, I’ll drive myself crazy thinking, ‘Oh, I should have done this,’ or ‘I should have done that.’ Because it’s over, and tomorrow’s a new day. It keeps me forward thinking, and keeps me a little less crazy," he laughs. "Just a little! I hate talking about acting. It feels so personal and private!"
