Two hunks from THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL one past, one future have joined the cast of the Emmy-nominated Web soap THE BAY! Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge) is set to play John Blackwell, the former district attorney of Bay City, while Sean Kanan (who returns to B&B as Deacon in June), has joined the Internet serial as press secretary Kenneth Allen. That role previously played by Brody Hutzler (ex-Patrick, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Cody, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS).
Why the change with Kanan taking over for Hutzler? "Brody is a good friend of mine and a wonderful talent," Gregori Martin, THE BAY's executive producer/creator, tells Soaps In Depth. "He's busy with some other great projects at the moment, and this gave us an opportunity to go in another direction with the character. Sean and Nicolas [Coster, Jack] have a great dynamic. Sean is bringing a lot of humor to the role."
Moss and Kanan aren't the only newcomers sailing into THE BAY this season! Judi Evans (Adrienne, DAYS) will play Katherine, John's wife, and Patrika Darbo (ex-Nancy, DAYS) has been cast as Mickey, who runs Patrick's Roadhouse.
Watch for an exclusive preview of THE BAY featuring interviews with Martin, Mary Beth Evans (Sara; Kayla, DAYS) and Terri Ivens (Orchid; Simone, ALL MY CHILDREN) in the next two issues of In Depth, on sale Monday, April 21, and Monday, April 28. Chapter 12 of THE BAY streams via the Blip and Roku networks and services beginning Thursday, May 1. For more information, visit www.thebaytheseries.com.
Corday Productions -- the team behind NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES -- is teaming up with digital media firm All Screens Media to launch Net Soaps/Net Novelas, a project aimed at creating and distributing original "interactive" soap operas on-line, but with a twist: Fans, actors and advertisers will all be able to participate in the development of the shows.
Net Soaps/Net Novelas plans to launch in the last quarter of 2014 through its own Web sites and distribution partners. While Net Soaps is the English-language version targeted at American audiences, Net Novelas will provide in-language programming for Latin America and Brazil. Web soap pioneer and daytime veteran Crystal Chappell (Dani, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTUIFUL; ex-Carly, DAYS; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT; Maggie, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) has joined the venture to produce, direct and mentor new talent.
For the full story, visit Variety.com here.
Chapter 12 of THE BAY doesn't start until Thursday, May 1. However, in the meantime, fans of the Web soap that stars Mary Beth Evans (Sara; Kayla, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Tristan Rogers (Rex; Colin, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS), Lilly Melgar (Janice; ex-Lily, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and many more daytime favorites can check out THE BAY: CONFESSIONS OF BAY CITY, a "pre-show" for the Internet drama series.
To kick off this new round of CONFESSIONS, the town's notorious villain Steve Jensen played by Matthew Ashford (ex-Jack, DAYS) returns to the hot seat and shows us that he is as wicked as ever! Watch Ashford's episode by clicking here, then check out newer ones by Derrell Whitt (Will) and Jade Harlow (Lianna; Sheryl, DAYS) and get ready to tune in for chapter 12 of THE BAY in May!
As far as DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Stefano is concerned, "bad" help is good to find. Actor Tom Lind makes his debut in Salem on Thursday, March 13, as Galen, The Phoenix's latest henchman. Watch for the performer to appear in scenes with both Joseph Mascolo (Stefano) and Deidre Hall (Marlena). "It was a lot of fun," says Lind, who reveals that he's not often cast as the heavy. "I was in a hair and makeup chair at DAYS and someone who works there said to me, 'Are you sure you're Galen? You seem too nice to be the bad guy.' So I gave him a scowl!'"
The role was likely named after DAYS' Galen Gering (Rafe), which led to a little confusion on Lind's part. "They called for 'Galen' over the loudspeaker, so I went up to the set and the stage manager said, 'No, sweetie, that's not you. That's the name of one of our actors!'
"Both Deidre and Joe were fantastic," Lind adds. "I actually met Joe in the hallway, and we started chatting before we met on set. He was great, and Deidre asked me to take a 'selfie.' I couldn't have asked for two nicer pros to work with! Both of them were super-sweet!"
Daytime dramas have seen an uptick in ratings, but in recent years have gone through quite a bit of turmoil. And over those years, the documentary Soap Life examined the plight of the American soap opera. Now, Soap Life is being released worldwide today on a host of platforms like iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Vudu. The feature features interviews from fans, directors, producers and actors like Rick Hearst (Ric, GENERAL HOSPITAL; ex-Whip, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, ALL MY CHILDREN; ex-Macy, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) and more!
For a preview, you can watch the trailer below!
Next Wednesday, March 5, marks the launch of an exciting new Web soap, BEACON HILL! New media pioneer Crystal Chappell (Dani, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT, etc.) is part of the team behind the drama, which centers on two Boston families at opposite ends of the political spectrum.
With political rivalries, romances gone bad, blackmail and family dysfunction, BEACON HILL has all the makings of a must-see series! In anticipation of the show's premiere, Soaps In Depth chatted up some of the top players in the drama for the scoop!
Alicia Minshew (Sara Preston)
"Sara left the love of her life, Kate, for this reporting job, and the break-up was painful. She's now come back to Beacon Hill for a job and bumps into Kate, so it's reigniting feelings. There are issues with Sara and her grandfather, whom Kate is now working with, and she has a tumultuous relationship with her mother, who is a drinker. She's trying to be a good reporter but stay true to her family. Everything kind of gets mixed up and muddled!"
Sarah Brown (Katherine "Kate" Wesley)
"When Crystal sent me the script, I read all 12 episodes and called her immediately. I originally wanted to play the character of Sara -- I understood where she's coming from. But Katherine ended up being much more of a challenge. I love every bit of this."

The nominees for the Fifth Annual Indie Series Awards were revealed recently, and include many familiar faces from daytime soaps who have done some incredible work in Web series over the past year.
Van Hansis (Luke, AS THE WORLD TURNS) was nominated for Best Lead Actor - Drama for his work in EASTSIDERS, while his former daytime castmate Colleen Zenk (Barbara) earned a nod for Best Lead Actress - Drama for THURSTON. Alicia Minshew (Kendall, ALL MY CHILDREN) was also nominated for Best Lead Actress - Drama for her role in TAINTED DREAMS. Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Rick, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) was nominated for Best Supporting Actor - Drama for DEVANITY while Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS) is up for Best Supporting Actress - Comedy for DATING IN THE MIDDLE AGES.
Click here for a full list of nominees. The ISA's will take place on Wednesday, April 2 at the historic El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, hosted by Carolyn Hennesy (Diane, GENERAL HOSPITAL), who was also nominated for Best Guest Star - Comedy for SINGLE SIBLINGS. How many of the Web soaps have you seen? Are you supporting these Internet series?
Melissa Ordway's (Abby, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) husband, Justin Gaston, has been cast on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in the newly-created contract role of Ben. A singer and model, Gaston appeared as a contestant on the sixth season of the reality series NASHVILLE STAR, so it's appropriate that his DAYS alter ego is described as a musician from the South. Ben is also rumored to be Jordan's brother.
Gaston reportedly began taping later last year, and should first air on DAYS later in February.
THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS fans were happy to see Eileen Davidson return to the role of Ashley, but now the actress is heading to Salem to play DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Kristen again! "Going back to be a bad girl for a little bit," the actress posted to Twitter.
We have no official word on how long this particular DAYS stint will be, and because the NBC soap tapes so far in advance, don't look for Kristen to appear until around July. As for Davidson's status at Y&R, the actress has only been recurring as Ashley, and the two soaps have cooperated before allowing her to appear on both at the same time. But one thing's for sure Kristen has a lot of crimes to answer for, so she'll probably be pretty busy in Salem!
"As an important member of the DAYS family, it is exciting to have Eileen return," says DAYS co-executive producer Greg Meng. "The writers have some great things cooking for Kristen, and we can't wait for fans to see what this will mean for Salem. Must-watch TV at its best! Stay tuned!"
Are you excited for Kristen's return? Or would you rather see Davidson as Ashley? Sound off in the comments!
Alison Sweeney (Sami) dropped a bombshell when she appeared on ELLEN as a guest DJ and announced that she was leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES after more than two decades!
"And I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time," she admitted. "I have worked so much, and my daughter has just turned five and my son is nine, and I just want to be with them."
Sweeney declared her love for the soap and the fans and assured that she will continue to appear on DAYS for the rest of this year. No final airdate has been set yet, so how Sami might leave Salem is just speculation at this point. You can watch the actress' thoughts on how it should go down in the clip below, and then write your own ending for Sami in the comments!
Cable outlet HLN has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards for the past two years, but there won't be a third. "It's fairly definite," Albie Hecht, the network's vice president and general manager, tells Soaps In Depth. "I just want to put a pause on everything and figure out what we're doing before we make any commitments. Shows like [the Daytime Emmys] need commitments in advance to plan and I don't think we can make that commitment."
Hecht, who joined HLN a little over three months ago, says that the decision has been made early so that the National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) can make other plans. "It's only fair to let them look around and let them do what they need to do," the HNL chief adds.
This doesn't mean that the Daytime Emmys won't be on television, however. "Having the show on HLN was a wonderful experience for us," says David Michaels, senior executive director of the Daytime Emmy Awards. "We are currently exploring other avenues so that the Daytime Emmys will have a broadcast home."
For her part, THE TALK's Aisha Tyler would love to see the ceremony return to one of the big three networks. "I think it would be great," she says. "CBS is the number one daytime network. It'd be great to have the Daytime Emmys on the number one daytime network. I think that would make perfect sense!"
A slew of familiar faces are starring in the new Web series BEACON HILL, including Sarah Brown (ex-Claudia, GENERAL HOSPITAL; ex-Agnes, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) Alicia Minshew (Kendall, ALL MY CHILDREN), and Crystal Chappell (Dani, B&B; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT) The serial, filmed on location in Boston, was co-created by Jessica Hill and her wife Linda, who is the chief executive officer of Bella Books, a publisher of lesbian fiction.
"BEACON HILL is a political drama set in Boston," Jessica tells Soaps In Depth. "Alicia and Sarah are our two leads, and they play the daughters of two political families in Boston. One's Republican and the other is Democrat. Alicia's character, Sara, and Sarah's character, Katherine, were together [romantically] and they broke up. Our story starts six years later when Sara's grandfather, played by Ron Raines [Carl, OLTL; Alan, GL], has a stroke. Sara, who's living in New York, comes back to Boston and you see dynamics between her family and Katherine start to develop."
The rest of the cast which reads like a Who's Who of daytime includes Scott Bryce (Craig, ATWT), Ricky Paull Goldin (Jesse, B&B; Gus, GL), Louise Sorel (ex-Vivian, DAYS), Tina Sloan (Lillian, GL), John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex, OLTL), Jessica Morris (Jen, OLTL), and Melissa Archer (Natalie, OLTL). Also in the cast is newcomer Rebecca Mozo.
BEACON HILL is produced by Bella Productions, the sister company of Bella Books, in association with Chappell's production company, Open Book Productions. Goldin and Emmy-winning actress Hillary B. Smith (Nora, OLTL; Margo, ATWT) serve as producers on the show.
Chappell, who has helmed Web series VENICE and THE GROVE, plays Claire, Sara's mother. How did that work, since there's less than a decade between the two actresses? "I age myself," Chappell confides. "I went without makeup and I wear my hair severely it's in a twist and high up on top. It's a fun character to play. Claire's husband is gone. My feeling is he couldn't tolerate her family.
"BEACON HILL is a very different show," Chappell adds. "It's a political drama with intrigue and romance revolving around two political families. Jessica and Linda are terrific people and writers. I love working with them!"
BEACON HILL begins streaming on Wednesday, March 5. For more info, check out www.beaconhilltheseries.com
Soap-hopper Daniel Cosgrove (Chris, AS THE WORLD TURNS; Bill, GUIDING LIGHT; Scott, ALL MY CHILDREN) is settling into a new daytime address, this time in Salem! Beginning in late January, the actor will be portraying DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Aiden, which will actually be the first time he'll be creating an original character from scratch instead of stepping into another performer's shoes as a recast! Will you be tuning in?
While DAYS OF OUR LIVES' conniving Jeremy didn't win any popularity contests, the character remains one that his portrayer, Trevor Donovan, is grateful for. "It made me look at the way I play a bad guy," he admits. "I realized that there is always a way to incorporate redeeming qualities into a [villain] because you really want to portray those characters as either the guy you love to hate or the dangerous guy women love!"

DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin) is kicking off Christmas with his new romantic comedy, Holiday Road Trip, on ION TV. In it, a recently heartbroken, stressed out staffer (Ashley Scott) of a major pet supply company gets tasked with taking both the company's canine mascot and the owner's slouchy son (Muldoon) on a cross-country media tour. Will hilarity ensue? "Playing opposite Ashley made me very, very happy she's gorgeous and really funny," Muldoon offers. "We fall in love along the way, but we have to overcome quite a bit as far as the personality differences between us. That's the fun of the movie."
Add in the fact that they're sharing a car with Auggie (the dog from The Artist) and are joined by an all-star cast that includes George Hamilton, Kip Pardue, Shelley Long, Susan Olsen and Wink Martindale, and viewers are guaranteed a good time. "It was awesome that George plays my father the guy is so funny and classy," Muldoon says. "He brought five of his expensive suits to the set and when the one that wardrobe provided me didn't fit, he loaned me one of his. And it fit like butter! So in the movie, I'm wearing George Hamilton's suit." Much like the chemistry that Austin shared with DAYS' Sami, Muldoon says that the sparks in this movie are something to behold. Find out for yourself when Holiday Road Trip premieres Sunday, December 1, at 9 pm EST. And if you can't wait, catch a preview by clicking here!
Holiday season is fast approaching, and if you'd like to support a worthy charity as you mail out your holiday cards to friends and family, you should send out the lovely card designed by DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Deidre Hall (Marlena)!
The actress has turned one of her lovely watercolor paintings into a holiday card that you can send to your loved ones. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity that supports veterans. The back of every card reads: "100% of the proceeds of this card is being donated to Wounded Warriors because they gave 100% to us."

Soaps In Depth has learned exclusively that Mark Collier (Mike, AS THE WORLD TURNS) has been cast on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in a newly-created role! He's already been on set taping, and is scheduled to air beginning in late December.
We don't have any information on his character yet, except that it's new to the canvas. But he'll have something in common with at least one of his co-stars... Shawn Christian (Daniel) originated the role of ATWT's Mike back in 1994. He played the part until 1997, and Collier took over when the soap decided to bring the character back in 2002!
THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Ashley Jones (Bridget) proved that you can go back again when she teamed up with Christian LeBlanc (Michael, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) for Nickelodeon's Grave Secrets (a feature film based on Annette and Gina Cascone's Deadtime Stories book series), which debuted in early 2012. "I played Christian's wife it was fun! I had worked with him before on Y&R [as Megan Dennison] years and years ago I've known him since I was a teenager!" Jones explains of the movie in which a babysitter (Jennifer Stone) shares frightful tales with her young charges. "And Christian produced this, so when he asked me to be a part of it, I said, 'Of course!'"
In the meantime, DEADTIME STORIES, a new Nickelodeon series also based on the books, began airing earlier this month. The episode titled "Little Magic Shop Of Horrors," which airs Thursday, October 31 at 8 p.m. EST, will feature soap opera alumni Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) and Eric Roberts (ex-Vance, Y&R). Then at 8:30 p.m., an episode that was made from Grave Secrets will air as the series' finale. "It's super sweet and adorable, but it has enough spooky stuff to keep [young viewers] guessing and wanting more," Jones reveals. "The kids in it were really, really talented. We filmed in a very spooky-looking house in downtown Los Angeles."
Have you ever wanted to look like a soap star? Or live like one? Well, check out the new book, DAYS OF OUR LIVES Better Living: Cast Secrets For A Healthier Balanced Life!

All of the recipes, workouts and advice in the book comes straight from the stars, like Alison Sweeney (Sami), James Scott (E.J.), Deidre Hall (Marlena), Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie), Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe), Galen Gering (Rafe) and more!
The hardcover contains over 300 pages of behind-the-scenes, original and exclusive never-before-seen images of the cast. Written by DAYS' co-executive producer Greg Meng and Eddie Campbell, DAYS OF OUR LIVES Better Living is due in bookstores and online retailers on Tuesday, September 24.
There will also be a massive book signing tour, a full schedule of which you'll find after the jump!
Three soaps were nominated for Artios Awards by the Casting Society Of America. Competing in the Daytime Drama Series category are DAYS OF OUR LIVES, GENERAL HOSPITAL, and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS.
The awards for casting in television and film will be distributed simultaneously at the Beverly Hilton and New York's XL Nightclub on Monday, November 18. When the same three shows were nominated for the Daytime Emmy this year, Y&R took home the trophy. Which soap will take home the Artios Award this fall?
Eileen Davidson's return as Kristen on DAYS OF OUR LIVES reinvigorated the NBC soap, so it comes as a major surprise that the actress is leaving!
Davidson confirmed the news on her official Facebook page. "My last day was July 16," she posted, "but I will be airing until November. I'm taking some time off to enjoy my family, however I am not retiring. Not really sure what's next for me workwise. But I am looking forward to figuring it out! Thanks to all of you for your support and love. I've had an incredible time on DAYS."
Of course, now the question remains: Will it just be a matter of time before Kristen resurfaces in Salem, or could Davidson once again find herself back in Genoa City as THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Ashley?
The Smithsonian has begun gathering items for its collection of iconic items from daytime television for the National Museum Of American History, starting with the gown and shoes worn by Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, ALL MY CHILDREN) after her memorable Emmy win, as well as items from JEOPARDY and BARNEY. You can watch a video of the presentation below including Lucci's emotional speech. The next soap item donated was announced by Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) during the most recent Daytime Emmys: The wedding worn by Nikki during her wedding to Victor.
The Smithsonian is creating a wish list of items that currently include the DAYS OF OUR LIVES hourglass, the AMC opening book, Barnabas' cape, ring and cane from DARK SHADOWS as well as memorabilia from daytime talk shows, children's shows and more. But they are aware that nobody knows daytime better than its fans, so they're looking for your input on what their collection should include. Put your ideas in the comments or send NATAS a message via the Daytime Emmy Awards' official Facebook page!
At last night's 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, there were quite a few repeat winners, and some big surprises. DAYS OF OUR LIVES went home with the night's biggest trophy, its first win in the Outstanding Drama Series category since 1978! "It's a well-deserved tribute to a great bunch of wonderful actors, writers... everyone gives it their best," said Peggy McCay (Caroline) of the sudser's triumph. "I couldn't be happier. It's for all of us."

The Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle over on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL is about to become a quad with the introduction of Darin Brooks as Wyatt Fuller! According to TV Guide, Brooks who won a Daytime Emmy in 2009 for his role of Max on DAYS OF OUR LIVES will be introduced as a potential love interest for Hope, who catches him naked in the shower at the Forrester cabin up at Big Bear! Look for the troublemaker to debut on Friday, June 21.
Back in March we told you about a collaboration between NATAS and the Smithsonian Institute to bring some of the most iconic daytime television memorabilia to the national museum, and today the first donations were presented!
Today's ceremony officially launched a three-year collecting initiative between the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and the National Museum of American History, aiming to help the museum expand its capacity to tell the story of daytime television and the Daytime Emmy Awards. At the ceremony, the Smithsonian accepted artifacts that reflect the contributions of daytime television programming, including a 1984 JEOPARDY! script from Alex Trebek, objects from the children's series BARNEY, and the gown that Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, ALL MY CHILDREN) wore on the cover of People magazine celebrating her legendary Daytime Emmy win. "They've asked me for [an AMC] script as well," the iconic daytime actress tells Soaps In Depth. "Plus, People is doing a big blow-up of the cover."
The daytime television collection (which will include children's programming, talk shows, game shows and cooking shows) will be part of a larger entertainment exhibit scheduled to open in 2015. "Right now, the area that the museum is going to devote to this exibit on American culture at large is under reconstruction," curator Dwight Blocker Bowers tells In Depth. "We have a very small soap opera collection, and this is an opportunity for us to add to it."
For more on this collaboration, check out an upcoming issue of Soaps In Depth.
Nominations for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced this morning. THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS leads with 23 total nominations, followed closely by GENERAL HOSPITAL with 19. DAYS OF OUR LIVES earned 17 nods and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL garnered 15. ONE LIFE TO LIVE, which was eligible for the few episodes that aired at the beginning of 2012 even managed to pick up 3 nominations for itself, including Outstanding Drama Series! The Daytime Emmys will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA and broadcast on HLN on Sunday, June 16. The full list of nominees is after the jump!
Rumors have been flying around the Internet recently that Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) would be joining the cast of Bravo's THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS. This wouldn't be the actress' first foray into reality television, having appeared in the 2010 series HARRY LOVES LISA with husband Harry Hamlin, and two seasons of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE.
However, a source close to THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS says that the rumor is just that. A rumor that came out of Rinna's recent appearance on Andy Cohen's Bravo Network talk show WATCH WHAT HAPPENS: LIVE. It's a shame, because she'd probably be a hoot as a REAL HOUSEWIFE!
Trevor Donovan showed his dark side as DAYS OF OUR LIVES' wily Jeremy. Then he showed his athletic prowess as hot Tennis player Teddy on 90210. Now, he's combining his two sides for his recurring role on the new season of Lifetime's THE CLIENT LIST. Look for him to debut in the Sunday, March 31, episode as one of masseuse Riley's (Jennifer Love Hewitt) newest customers, a pro football player whose unusual request indicates that he enjoys testing his boundaries. What will happen when she gets her hands on him? The guy pops up again come June when he returns to The Rub for another session. But what will happen when the duo runs into each other in public? We can't tell you, but you can bet it'll be awkward!
The Smithsonian Institute has partnered with the National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) to bring some of the most iconic daytime television memorabilia to the national museum! A rep tells Soaps In Depth that it is still in the planning stages, but the Smithsonian hopes to eventually showcase a collection that features costumes, props, scripts, awards and much more!
Tell us below, which iconic items from the history of daytime television programming do you think should be included in The Smithsonian's collection?
Don't miss a couple of daytime stars in this weekend's episode of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE! When Donald Trump tasks the celeb contestants with performing a soap opera scene to promote Crystal Light, they call upon none other than soap legends Susan Lucci (Erica, ALL MY CHILDREN) and Jack Wagner (Frisco, GENERAL HOSPITAL; ex-Nick, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) to help make them authentic! (Not that contestant Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) probably needs much help!)
Catch all the fun on the episode of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE titled "I'm Being Punked By A Jackson", airing Sunday, March 17, at 9:00 pm EST!
While the actual nominees won't be revealed until May 1, the National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the Drama Performer categories for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Peer judges viewed clips of each entrant, then selected their top ten performer choices in each category, the results of which were then tabulated by an independent accounting firm. (There are 11 ladies in the Lead Actress category due to a tie.) Those who received the highest number of votes now advance to the Blue Ribbon screening round, which will determine both the nominees and the winners. This year, the Younger Actor and Younger Actress categories, for performers under the age of 25, only had 9 submissions each, so there was no pre-nomination round necessary.
In alphabetical order, here are the pre-nominated performers:
Sharon Case (Sharon, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS)
Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Y&R)
Susan Flannery (ex-Stephanie, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL)
Finola Hughes (Anna, GENERAL HOSPITAL)
Peggy McCay (Caroline, DAYS OF OUR LIVES)

Eileen Davidson stirred up considerable excitement when she announced that she'd be returning briefly to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS to reprise her role as Ashley on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March, 19 -- even as she plays vixen Kristen DiMera across the dial on NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES! "I thought I'd be really nervous, but when I got there... it was so much fun!" she declares of playing the dual roles, as it were. "I almost started crying, getting to work with Peter [Bergman, Jack] and Michelle [Stafford, Phyllis] right out of the gate! And being part of the [Nikki/Victor] wedding, I got to touch base with everybody!"

This morning, rumors were flying that Eileen Davidson who is currently appearing as Kristen on DAYS OF OUR LIVES would be reprising her role as THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' Ashley for a handful of special episodes. And judging from the pictures that CBS Daytime posted to their Y&R Web site of Davidson on set with Peter Bergman (Jack) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), DAYS did indeed lend the actress to Y&R so that Ashley could visit her brother, Jack, in Genoa City. We'll let you know exactly how long Davidson's Y&R stint will be and when the episodes will air just as soon as we can find out!
Kyle Lowder rocked the soap world as DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Brady and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Rick. Now he's stopping hearts with his lead role as long-haired, tattooed singer Stacee Jaxx in Rock Of Ages, the newest smash on the Las Vegas strip! Set in in 1987 ("the era of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair"), the drama tells the story of Drew and Sherrie, two wide-eyed but talented Los Angeles newcomers who chase their dreams while falling in love and crossing paths with the likes of jaded superstars like Jaxx.
Not only does the musical feature a host of your favorite 80s hits, but it also stars the classically-trained opera singer as the glam rocker belting them out. "It's been very challenging, and not just with the singing but also with the character because he's very complex," Lowder confides. "He's this conceited, ultra-cool rock god, but at the same time he's a moron -- it's very comedic."
From learning how not to "blow his tank" vocally when doing seven shows each week to doing his own makeup to becoming the toast of Las Vegas and even being invited to sing with the band Foreigner recently, Lowder says he's enjoying the biggest challenge of his career and that he couldn't be more proud of the show. "I'm living the life of a rock star, rocking out on stage every night," he enthuses. "It's really the best gig I could possibly imagine."
Tickets range from $45-$115 and are available from The Venetian Box Office at (866) 641-7469 or online at www.Venetian.com. For more from Lowder, who also currently appears on DEVANITY, check out his upcoming interview in a future issue of Soaps In Depth.
THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL has received its first nomination for Outstanding Daily Drama for the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
