B&B's Jones Has A Secret!

AshleyJonesSexLife.jpg

If you thought THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL was steamy, Ashley Jones (ex-Bridget) promises you haven't seen anything yet! The actress is both the star and executive producer of Lifetime's sizzling new feature, The Secret Sex Life Of A Single Mom.

Based on Canadian author Delaine Moore's memoir by the same name, it's the tale of a 30-something mother's personal journey from painful divorce to self-discovery. Jones stars as Moore, whose best pal (played by GENERAL HOSPITAL's Cynthia Preston, ex-Faith) encourages her to try on-line dating, with some intriguing results. "The script is definitely a tamer version of Delaine's life," Jones giggles. "It is TV-MA, which is television for mature audiences, but I think Lifetime wanted to keep it tasteful..."

Look for the single gal to explore her long-dormant sensuality by taking a walk on the wild side. "It could happen to Bridget! That's the kind of shock and awe that I think Lifetime wants to bring to this project," Jones suggests of the soapy tale. "I think I was hired because they think I could make it seem like this could happen to anyone."

Watch a preview by clicking here and don't miss the film's world premiere on Saturday, May 31, at 9 p.m. EST on Lifetime!

EXCLUSIVE: Tom Speaks Out On Y&R Exit

DavidTom.jpg

With the shocking news that THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS is replacing the recently-returned David Tom with daytime newcomer Burgess Jenkins as Billy Abbott, Soaps In Depth reached out to the actor to get his perspective on the unexpected recast.

"It was such a great experience to have been a part of the Y&R family again," Tom tells In Depth. "It was wonderful to see so many old friends and people I know that I used to work with and enjoy so much like Jess Walton (Jill) and Peter Bergman (Jack). I got to do some scenes with Eric Braeden (Victor), finally."

The Emmy winner admits that he didn't see Y&R's decision coming. "I think I was definitely well-liked there," Tom muses. "As far as I knew, nobody knew about this. Not even the cast." Was he given a reason for his termination? "One of the reasons they said they let me go is that I obviously looked too young when they placed me with [the new] Kelly. Well, she was hired after I was. I don't understand why they didn't think about that [when they were casting her]. We don't really have a storyline [anyway]; She's with Jack. I thought I looked fine with Missy [Claire Egan, Chelsea]. I really loved working with her."

The actor is already making plans for the future, including putting together a demo reel out of his best scenes from this last trip to Genoa City. Is he up for another daytime gig? "Hell, yeah. I'd go in a heartbeat to another soap opera," he says. "I love to work.

"The worst thing you can do is mull about it," continues Tom, who adds that what he'll miss most is working alongside his fellow Y&R actors. "The whole cast is wonderful. I felt like they were a part of my family."

Look for more of our exclusive interview with Tom in our CBS issue on sale June 16!

The soap is reportedly taking the character in a different direction, necessitating the recast. Jenkins has appeared in numerous primetime series including ARMY WIVES, NASHVILLE and ONE TREE HILL. Look for him to first appear in late June. "So excited to be joining the Y&R family!" the actor tweeted. "Thanks so much for the outpouring of warm welcome from all the fans!"

Y&R's New Phyllis Speaks Out!

Gina_Tognoni4549.jpg

Phyllis will be coming out of her coma this summer on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, but according to TV Guide, when she wakes up, she'll look a whole lot like GUIDING LIGHT's Dinah and ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Kelly. That's right, soap vet Gina Tognoni has been tapped by the soap to take over the role of the feisty redhead vacated last August by Michelle Stafford (who you can see starting Tuesday, June 3, as GENERAL HOSPITAL's Nina).

"I am beyond blessed to play this incredible role," Tognoni shared on Facebook. "I am thrilled to be back on CBS. Thank you for your support; I feel it in my HEART. So excited to work with this amazing cast and crew. I am grateful to my beautiful husband, my family, friends and the best FANS in the world."

No first airdate has been announced at this time, but look for Phyllis' recovery to throw a major monkey wrench into Jack's burgeoning relationship with Kelly! How do you feel about the recast?

Chapter 12 Of THE BAY Concludes!

BayScreenshot.jpg

The citizens of THE BAY will face a series of emotional and physical cliffhangers when the final installment of Chapter 12 is revealed today on www.thebaytheseries.com. For starters, the secret long held by Sara Garrett (Mary Beth Evans, Kayla, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) will finally be revealed!

"The majority of the cast will be in this episode and we have several cliffhangers that will take us into the next chapter," executive producer/creator Gregori Martin previews. "Sara's secret will finally come out. It's a secret she's held for a long time and it's related to her family. There's also going to be some movement with Jack's (Nicolas Coster, Lionel, SANTA BARBARA) affair with Orchid (Teri Ivens, Simone, ALL MY CHILDREN). How long before his wife, Sofia, puts it all together? We're going to be learning more about John and Katherine Blackwell — who are played by Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) and Judi Evans (Adrienne, DAYS) — and what their connections are to people in Bay City."

Also, watch for the relationship between Peter (Kristos Andrews) and Janice (Lilly Melgar, ex-Lily, GENERAL HOSPITAL) to go to a new level. Is their dynamic more than just a cougar going after her young prey?

What will viewers walk away thinking after seeing this explosive finale? Predicts Martin: "They'll wish THE BAY was on five days a week!"

Y&R Star Goes UNDER THE DOME

MaxEhrichGal.jpg

Max Ehrich (Fenmore, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) is joining the cast of UNDER THE DOME, which returns for its second season on Monday, June 30, at 10 p.m. on CBS. He'll play Hunter, who will first appear "digitally" in the third episode says executive producer Neal Bauer.

What does the new gig mean for Fen's future in Genoa City? Since Ehrich is not on contract with Y&R, the moonlighting shouldn't affect his position with the soap. Baer tells Soaps In Depth that Ehrich is set to appear in about six DOME episodes.

Emmy Nominees React!

MelissaClaireEgan.jpg

How did THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Daytime Emmy nominees find out that they'd made the final cut? What episodes did they submit? Read on to find out!

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, Y&R): "I had a 7:30 call so I woke up at 6:15 to several missed calls and texts. When I saw 11 missed phone calls, I thought then, 'I guess maybe... I don't think they would have called me to tell me, Sorry, you didn't get nominated!' It's always so thrilling this exciting, pleasant, flattering thing. It never gets old. I feel really grateful.

"I submitted an episode when the whole Dylan/Chelsea/Adam baby bombshell was coming out. The episode was with me and Steve Burton (Dylan), when everything was coming to a head. It's actually my favorite reel I've ever submitted for any Emmys, because it's such an arc. It starts out with where he's starting to question Connor's sight, and I say that Adam had the same condition. Dylan says, 'What are the odds that our son and your ex-husband had the same condition...' It arcs to Chelsea telling Dylan that Connor isn't his son, he's Adam's son, and everything explodes. I felt it was a rollercoaster, where it's tick, tick, tick, tick, up and then down and up and down... it was really a no-brainer for me."

B&B Star Checks In To GH!

RonnMoss.jpg

Daytime vet Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) confirms to Soaps In Depth that he'll be appearing on at least one upcoming episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL (like, maybe today)! He's keeping mum on exactly who he'll be playing and what he'll be doing in Port Charles, but the actor/musician (Moss is a member of the band Player) will be airing during the Nurses Ball so there's speculation that he'll be not just acting on the show, but singing, too!

How'd it all come about? "[GH's headwriter] Ron Carlivati came up with the concept," Moss reveals to In Depth. "He ran it by Frank [Valentini, executive producer]. Everybody loved it!"

The former CBS Daytime star admits that an offer from a rival network surprised him, but adds, "It shows me how savvy the guys are who are running [GH]. I think it's going to be a good payoff for them."

Moss and his new pals at ABC agreed to keep the casting coup under wraps for as long as possible. "We all chose collectively to keep it a secret," he says. "That was kind of the point of it."

It's a bit serendipitous that Moss has landed back at ABC. The actor started out his acting career there in a talent development program prior to landing on B&B. "It was myself, Robin Wright (Kelly, SANTA BARBARA), Arsenio Hall, Emmanuel Lewis (WEBSTER), Emma Samms (ex-Holly, GH), and Gordon Thomson (Mason, SB). We all started out together and then went our separate ways."

Moss didn't feel like a stranger in Port Charles. While he says Michelle Stafford (Nina, GH; ex-Phyllis, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) hadn't started there yet when he shot his scenes, he did see on set many of his former B&B co-stars. "I saw Ian Buchanan (Duke; ex-James, B&B), William deVry (Julian; ex-Storm, B&B), Rick Hearst (Ric; ex-Whip, B&B) and other people I've known for years like Anthony Geary (Luke) and Finola Hughes (Anna)."

Although GH is only a brief appearance, Moss wants his fans to know that he loves being a part of the soap opera world and has no ill will towards the genre. "To blatantly say 'I would never go back to daytime' would be a slap," he declares. "I never said that. But people will read into things what they want to."
