Tom's Back On Y&R Today!

DavidTomYRset.jpg

David Tom steps back into the role of Billy Abbott on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS with today's episode, and the actor couldn't be more excited to reconnect with the character and his co-stars. "I had scenes with Jess [Walton, Jill] and it was wonderful," smiles the Emmy winner. "It's like we just took up from where we left off 12 years ago! I'm looking forward to my upcoming scenes with Peter Bergman (Jack)."

But the one person that Tom is most looking forward to sparring with on-screen is Eric Braeden (Victor). "I was never able to work with Eric before when I was younger," he shares. "I can't wait this time around, because I think there will be some fun stuff coming up with Eric because of Billy and Victor's relationship. I'm really excited to see where they go with it!"

Make sure to watch Tom's first new episode today and for more from the actor regarding his Y&R return, check out our feature interview with him in the upcoming issue of CBS Soaps In Depth on sale Monday, February 10!

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL is bringing back another past character, this time Schae Harrison's Darla! According to TV Guide, Harrison is set to reprise her role for three episodes airing Tuesday, March 18, Tuesday, March 25, and Monday, April 7.

Of course, having been killed off in 2006, Darla will be appearing to her daughter, Aly, as a ghost. Y&R Star Back To DAYS!

EileenDavidsonGal.jpg

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS fans were happy to see Eileen Davidson return to the role of Ashley, but now the actress is heading to Salem to play DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Kristen again! "Going back to be a bad girl for a little bit," the actress posted to Twitter.

We have no official word on how long this particular DAYS stint will be, and because the NBC soap tapes so far in advance, don't look for Kristen to appear until around July. As for Davidson's status at Y&R, the actress has only been recurring as Ashley, and the two soaps have cooperated before allowing her to appear on both at the same time. But one thing's for sure — Kristen has a lot of crimes to answer for, so she'll probably be pretty busy in Salem!

"As an important member of the DAYS family, it is exciting to have Eileen return," says DAYS co-executive producer Greg Meng. "The writers have some great things cooking for Kristen, and we can't wait for fans to see what this will mean for Salem. Must-watch TV at its best! Stay tuned!"

Are you excited for Kristen's return? Or would you rather see Davidson as Ashley? Sound off in the comments!

DAYS Exit Shocker!

AlisonSweeney.jpg

Alison Sweeney (Sami) dropped a bombshell when she appeared on ELLEN as a guest DJ and announced that she was leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES after more than two decades!

"And I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time," she admitted. "I have worked so much, and my daughter has just turned five and my son is nine, and I just want to be with them."

Sweeney declared her love for the soap and the fans and assured that she will continue to appear on DAYS for the rest of this year. Y&R Gets Real For Upcoming Wedding!

TuteraYRgroup.jpg

Watch for real-life wedding planner David Tutera, host of WE's MY FAIR WEDDING, to stop by THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS on Wednesday, January 22, and Thursday, January 23. While it's likely he'll be on board to help Neil and Leslie out with their big day (they are recently engaged, after all!), Tutera tells Soaps In Depth that he'll be sharing screentime with Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren) and Judith Chapman (Gloria). "Tracey's amazing," he says. "And Judith is a character! I wasn't quite sure if she was playing the role of Gloria or if she's like that in real life!"

The reality star, who also executive produces his series on WE, says he wasn't sure what the policy was regarding ad-libbing on Y&R, but when he saw one of his scene partners doing it he decided to hop on board! "When you're doing a scene with Judith, she keeps going on and on," Tutera chuckles. "I'm like, 'Are you done? When do I start?' Then, I realized I had to start doing what she was doing!"

How would Tutera sum up his Y&R experience? "Painless, fun, easy, and exciting," he says. "I'd absolutely consider [doing this again]," he shares. "This is something I found really enjoyable."

Deluged with congratulatory wishes from fans, the actor added some details with later tweets revealing that the baby is due in mid-July, and it was a surprise. Burton and wife Sheree already have daughter, Makena (11) and son Jack (8), but don't know yet whether their kids will be getting a baby brother or sister. Exclusive: B&B Star Becomes U.S. Citizen!

JenniferFinnigan.jpg

Jennifer Finnigan (ex-Bridget, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), a native of Montreal, Canada, is set to become a United States citizen today. "I decided it was finally time," the actress tells Soaps In Depth exclusively. "It would have happened sooner due to the length of time that I've been living here and [also] because I'm married to an American [actor Jonathan Silverman], but I've not really had the time. I know that sounds strange, but I'm never really in town.

"I've been putting off doing jury duty for too long," the actress adds with a laugh.

Ironically, Finnigan won't be sticking around the U.S. for very long following the ceremony, as she'll soon be leaving for Tel Aviv to begin filming her new series, TYRANT. The serialized drama, from the co-creators of HOMELAND, stars Adam Rayner as the young son of a dictator who ends a self-imposed exile to return to his native country for his nephew's wedding. Finnigan plays Molly, his wife and the mother of their two children. The series is set to air on FX this summer.

Who Will Air The Daytime Emmys?

EmmyTrophies.jpg

Cable outlet HLN has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards for the past two years, but there won't be a third. "It's fairly definite," Albie Hecht, the network's vice president and general manager, tells Soaps In Depth. "I just want to put a pause on everything and figure out what we're doing before we make any commitments. Shows like [the Daytime Emmys] need commitments in advance to plan and I don't think we can make that commitment."

Hecht, who joined HLN a little over three months ago, says that the decision has been made early so that the National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) can make other plans. "It's only fair to let them look around and let them do what they need to do," the HNL chief adds.

This doesn't mean that the Daytime Emmys won't be on television, however. "Having the show on HLN was a wonderful experience for us," says David Michaels, senior executive director of the Daytime Emmy Awards. "We are currently exploring other avenues so that the Daytime Emmys will have a broadcast home."

For her part, THE TALK's Aisha Tyler would love to see the ceremony return to one of the big three networks. "I think it would be great," she says. "CBS is the number one daytime network. It'd be great to have the Daytime Emmys on the number one daytime network. I think that would make perfect sense!"

Soap Stars Move To BEACON HILL

BeaconHillCast.jpg

A slew of familiar faces are starring in the new Web series BEACON HILL, including Sarah Brown (ex-Claudia, GENERAL HOSPITAL; ex-Agnes, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) Alicia Minshew (Kendall, ALL MY CHILDREN), and Crystal Chappell (Dani, B&B; Olivia, GUIDING LIGHT) The serial, filmed on location in Boston, was co-created by Jessica Hill and her wife Linda, who is the chief executive officer of Bella Books, a publisher of lesbian fiction.

"BEACON HILL is a political drama set in Boston," Jessica tells Soaps In Depth. "Alicia and Sarah are our two leads, and they play the daughters of two political families in Boston. One's Republican and the other is Democrat. Alicia's character, Sara, and Sarah's character, Katherine, were together [romantically] and they broke up. Our story starts six years later when Sara's grandfather, played by Ron Raines [Carl, OLTL; Alan, GL], has a stroke. Sara, who's living in New York, comes back to Boston and you see dynamics between her family and Katherine start to develop."

The rest of the cast — which reads like a Who's Who of daytime — includes Scott Bryce (Craig, ATWT), Ricky Paull Goldin (Jesse, B&B; Gus, GL), Louise Sorel (ex-Vivian, DAYS), Tina Sloan (Lillian, GL), John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex, OLTL), Jessica Morris (Jen, OLTL), and Melissa Archer (Natalie, OLTL). Also in the cast is newcomer Rebecca Mozo.

BEACON HILL is produced by Bella Productions, the sister company of Bella Books, in association with Chappell's production company, Open Book Productions. Goldin and Emmy-winning actress Hillary B. Smith (Nora, OLTL; Margo, ATWT) serve as producers on the show.

Chappell, who has helmed Web series VENICE and THE GROVE, plays Claire, Sara's mother. How did that work, since there's less than a decade between the two actresses? "I age myself," Chappell confides. "I went without makeup and I wear my hair severely — it's in a twist and high up on top. It's a fun character to play. Claire's husband is gone. My feeling is he couldn't tolerate her family.

"BEACON HILL is a very different show," Chappell adds. "It's a political drama with intrigue and romance revolving around two political families. Jessica and Linda are terrific people and writers. I love working with them!"

BEACON HILL begins streaming on Wednesday, March 5. For more info, check out www.beaconhilltheseries.com
