GL Emmy Winner Joins Y&R!

Cynthia_Watros24813.jpg

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS is adding another Emmy winner to its roster! Entertainment Weekly has revealed that Cynthia Watros has been cast as a character named Kelly, who will apparently be involved in a storyline with Billy, Victoria and Chloe. Well known to primetime audiences for her stint on LOST, Watros is remembered by daytime fans for her memorable stint as GUIDING LIGHT's Annie.

The casting notice that Y&R sent out for the character described Kelly as "a grade school teacher by trade, but not currently working. She has been married, but recently divorced." It also calls for the role to last a minimum of three episodes, but with a talent like Watros in the role, it's likely that Y&R will keep her recurring for longer than that if possible.

Still, we can't help but think that if they were thinking of recasting Phyllis, Watros would have been a doozy of a choice!

"It'll be a big visual and audio retrospective of my musical tastes interwoven with a sort of history and background of me, who I am, where I came from," Eakes previews. "I'll talk about the pageants in Georgia, coming to LA... and I can't ignore the 21 years I spent in soap operas! It's going to be a lot of fun."

Meek Joins The Hunt!

MeekTaken.jpg

Jeff Meek, best known to soap fans as AS THE WORLD TURNS' Craig and SEARCH FOR TOMORROW's Quinn, is headed to primetime in Lifetime's new thriller, Taken: The Search For Sophie Parker. "Julie Benz [DEFIANCE, DEXTER] is a widowed New York detective and I play her partner, a sort of hard-boiled street guy from Brooklyn," Meek reveals of the film he made recently in Bulgaria. "He's in love with her — has been for a long time — but she's been struggling with the loss of her husband. He challenges her to let him be in her life."

The budding romance gets put on hold when the daughter of Benz's character (Naomi Battrick) gets abducted while visiting Moscow with a girlfriend (Jemma Dallender) that just happens to be the ambassador's daughter! "That's the caper of the piece: Julie's character travels to Russia to find her, and I provide support from New York with things that she needs to have done."

The frantic search proves complicated when the teenagers fall into a Russian sex slavery ring and become potential victims of human trafficking. "I didn't realize the vastness of [the problem]... it's prevalent all over the world," Meek offers. "It's mostly for the sex trade because they get young women and then indoctrinate them and send them all over the world them. It's horrible!"

The thriller airs Saturday, September 21, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 22, at 12 a.m. EST on Lifetime. For more of what Meek's been up to lately, check out his upcoming Keeping Track feature in Soaps In Depth.

B&B Vet Being Recast!

JoannaJ.jpg

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL has released a casting notice for Karen Spencer, meaning that they're looking to replace portrayer Joanna Johnson. The actress is also a producer, and as her ABC Family series THE FOSTERS has been picked up for additional episodes, it's likely she was unable to juggle both duties as the notice lists Karen as a recurring role with a possible contract.

B&B is also lowering the age on the casting notice for Thorne's daughter Alexandra from 19-21 down to 17-19, making her more of a teen. Naturally, we'll keep you up to date with any information as the roles are cast, so stay tuned!

What You Missed On Friday's B&B!

BrookeKatie.jpg

Due to issues between CBS and Time Warner, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL were not being aired in several markets. To help those impacted, we'll be offering daily recaps.

Friday, August 30

Rick spent a day poolside with Caroline, flirting and working on rebuilding their relationship. Rick apologized to her for not appreciating her as much as he should have. Tensions rose when Brooke paid a visit to Katie with an attempt to mend their broken family. Brooke criticized Katie for being responsible for driving Bill away. Furious, Katie told her sister that Bill was her problem, now, and that she was moving on with her son. She asked Brooke for space to let her live that new life. Bill was caught off-guard when the confrontation between him and Wyatt became physical. Wyatt learned of the consequences of crossing the almighty Dollar Bill Spencer when Bill told him he never wanted to see his face again. Liam interrupted Wyatt in the Spencer lobby and told him to move out of his house, saying it would be fine with him if they never saw each other again.

Could Rick and Caroline really make it work this time? And has Wyatt already lost his new family? Share your opinions in the comments!

What You Missed On Friday's Y&R!

YRJillEp.jpg

Due to issues between CBS and Time Warner, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL were not being aired in several markets. To help those impacted, we'll be offering daily recaps.

Friday, August 30

Jill framed the drawing of Katherine that she'd found in the safe. She noticed that Katherine was holding a copy of Pride & Prejudice, and pulled the book out from the bookshelf. When a bookmark fell out with the initials G.R., she realized that G.R. was Katherine's first husband, Gary Reynolds. Across town, Chloe and Chelsea admired Connor. When Chloe wondered why Chelsea had helped Adam against Melanie's rape charges, Chelsea insisted that had been the right thing to do. Later, Chloe went to the Chancellor mansion, and saw the drawing that Jill had framed. She mentioned that she'd never notice the necklace in the sketch before, prompting Esther to inform them that the necklace had been from Katherine's first husband, Gary. At Jabot, Kyle confronted Jack about pressuring Summer to get to know him better. Jack insisted that he'd done nothing of the sort... but that didn't stop him from later pressuring her to accompany him to Georgia to visit Phyllis. While she agreed, Kyle tracked her down and suggested she turn down the trip with his dad, believing Victor would go ballistic if he found out about it! At Billy's house, Dylan inspected the bookcase Billy had made and jokingly suggested that it might be easier for him to scrap it completely and build another one. Billy, however, said that since he'd built it with his daughter, Delia, he'd keep it forever. Later, Dylan accompanied Chelsea to take Connor in for a check-up. Chelsea and Dylan were stunned when the doctor informed them that Connor was likely to develop Retinitis Pigmentosa and could eventually go blind! Chelsea was even more horrified when she realized that the disease had been inherited from Adam! Meanwhile, Victor pressured Adam to tell him who his mystery investor was. When Adam balked, Victor told him that he could not consider taking over Chancellor Industries without that information. Adam then told Victor that some of his investors were Harvard buddies, prompting Victor to remind Adam that he didn't even finish high school, so he wasn't impressed with Harvard guys. Furious, Adam accused Victor of never giving him a chance and stormed out. Victor ordered his P.I. to bug Adam's apartment and follow him until he learned the identity of Adam's secret investor. At the GCAC, Adam called his secret investor — Jack!

Do you think Jill will be in for a surprise when she finally figures out what Katherine is trying to tell her? And is Victor crossing a line by bugging Adam's place? Share your thoughts in the comments!
