Another GH Actor To Y&R!

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS has snatched up yet another actor from GENERAL HOSPITAL! This time it's Erin Chambers, who will be going from playing the late, lamented Siobhan to Genoa City paralegal Melanie Daniels. And seeing how so many characters on Y&R are often in trouble with the law, she should be kept pretty busy, even though the role is currently only recurring. Look for Chambers to debut on Wednesday, June 5. Daytime Confidential first reported the news.

Jonesing For Danger!

If you've been missing Ashley Jones on your screen, you're in luck! Not only is the beauty briefly reprising her role as Bridget on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL beginning Wednesday, May 22, but she's also starring in the Lifetime Original A Sister's Revenge this weekend! In it, she plays the wife of a successful restaurateur whose past as a philanderer catches up to him in an unexpected way. "I'm one of the three leads, and I'm playing opposite Canadian actor Tim Rozon as my husband," Jones reveals of the thriller that she shot last November.

However, the other gal to keep an eye on in this picture is Brooke Burns (MELROSE PLACE, BAYWATCH), whose dangerous character has an axe to grind against the man for wronging her sister. How far might the femme fatale go? Jones promises the kind of "juicy" twists and turns that daytime TV fans love most. "So many of these Lifetime movies are soapy too," she says of the reason everyone should tune in to catch it on Saturday, April 27, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, at 12 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST. "You know, you settle in for the evening and it's a great movie to watch with your boyfriend, your family, or with the girls."

Head Back To THE BAY!

On hiatus since last September, Emmy-winning Web soap opera THE BAY is at long last returning to production. What secrets and lies will be revealed? Soaps In Depth was the first to know about the series' brand-new promo for the third season, featuring Mary Beth Evans (Sara), Matthew Ashford (Steve), Nicolas Coster (Mayor Madison), Jacklyn Zeman (Sofia), Kristos Andrews (Peter) and more. Maura West Joins GH!

Rumors circulating that Maura West (ex-Carly, AS THE WORLD TURNS, ex-Diane, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) would be joining GENERAL HOSPITAL in a new role were totally on the money! The Emmy winner is reportedly already on set taping, and should debut as Ava Jerome sometime in May (just in time for sweeps... convenient!).

Longtime fans might recognize the name Jerome from Port Charles history. The Jerome clan was a Mob family that Duke and Anna found themselves wrapped up with. (Remember Tonja Walker as the Duke-obsessed Olivia?) Of course, the last name might just be a coincidence, but then again, headwriter Ron Carlivati is a big fan of GH history!

Cooper Out Of ICU!

Good news! THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) has turned a corner! Her son, Corbin Bernsen (ex-Father Todd), posted the following update on his Facebook page last night:

Good news continues for my mom as I believe she is being moved out of ICU to a more "comfortable" room. I was able to Face Time with her today and I can't tell you how amazing it was to speak to her and hear her voice! Her sense of humor was in tact, the greatest sign of all. I want to take a moment here to express something that - as usual - I'm at a bit of a loss for words for. So much of my reporting to you in the last week has been a sincere effort to convey her status and progress. And with your magnificent, steady prayers she has, day by day, improved. Yet still I feel a bit "guilty," weird. I mean, with all the other suffering going on, it's hard to celebrate this miraculous recovery. Also, about that, her extraordinary recovery... I've looked back over the posts because I wanted to make sure that I have been truthful and accurate. I know for a fact she was in extreme, life threatening danger that was even made more clear to me than perhaps I let on. But then, she did improve, steadily and somewhat defied the extent of the terrible news I was delivering. I want to make sure no one misinterprets this as my "making more of it than it actually was." I can guarantee you that wasn't the case. Her recovery has been nothing short of "miraculous" and very quick considering everything. That will be, if all continues in this fantastic way, the legacy of this... the effect of prayer and the ability for miracles. As always I want to close with making sure I'm accurate once again and letting you know that which I've been told... remain cautiously optimistic. That will most likely last for some time now but in the upcoming days I'll most likely drop it from these posts. I will keep the connection with you both regarding her recovery as well as "what all of this ultimately means" in the bigger picture.

I also want to take a moment to once again thank the INCREDIBLE STAFF at Cedars Sinai hospital who have helped in this miraculous recovery (that involved a lot of non miracle, expertise and kindness.) Also, I haven't mentioned my brother Collin by name, or my sister Caren who have stood by my side, holding me up and shared in your kindness. I love them both and feel closer to them than ever.

Ailing Cooper Improving

Over the weekend, Corbin Bernsen (ex-Father Todd, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) has been posting updates regarding the health of his mother, Jeanne Cooper (Katherine). While none of them have revealed exactly what she is going through, on the plus side, his most recent updates have been more positive, indicating improvement in her condition.

"Healing is happening," he posted to Facebook last night, "but outward signs are small and only visible in numbers I still don't fully understand."

His most recent update this morning read, "I know that this is happening in small steps, but would be so awesome to see it in plain sight. Please don't mistake that. She's mending, but I"m ready for her to stand up, take over the room and start telling everybody what to do (or what she thinks of them).

Our thoughts are with Cooper and her entire family at this time, and we will continue to keep you up to date with new information as we hear it.

Interview: GL Alum Tackles Sinatra!

Did you know that Frank Sinatra was behind JFK's presidency? Or that the beloved president's assassination was really a Mob retaliation? And it all happened because the crooner introduced his girlfriend to a young senator, who simultaneously had an affair with the presidential hopeful and the head of the Chicago Mafia!

That's the theory behind the play Ride The Tiger -- currently being staged at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT, until Sunday, April 21, and starring GUIDING LIGHT alum Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) as Frank and ALL MY CHILDREN's Christina Bennett Lind (ex-Bianca) as the above-mentioned mistress, Judy Exner. Written by William Mastrosimone -- who spent a year interviewing the beloved singer to write the Golden Globe-winning television series SINATRA -- the play is based on a revelation made during one of their conversations. "The play takes specific plot elements that Sinatra told Bill, who then creates a scenario of what happened in these rooms when no one else was listening," explains Stewart.

Bridget's Back On B&B!

Having lost Nick to Brooke back in the day, Bridget would certainly have a few choice words for her mother upon learning that she's stealing Bill away from her sister, Katie! So it's a good thing that Bridget's on her way back to THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL! According to Zap2it, Ashley Jones is on her way back to shoot about three or four episodes.

"There's some fun stuff with Bridget's mom [Brooke]," Jones told the site. "I specifically didn't want to go back for a wedding or a funeral. I feel like this is too cool a character to come back and just sit in the background."

A rep for the show confirms that Jones will first appear on Wednesday, May 22. There's no telling at this time, though, whether or not this could turn into a longer stint with the soap.

B&B's Oliver Headed To Y&R

There have been crossovers between THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS before, some long-term (Ashley, Lauren) and others brief (Eric). And with Y&R's Jabot branching out into fashion, it's only natural that they'd require a gifted photographer to snap some shots of their garments. Which is why Zack Conroy's shutterbug Oliver will be crossing over from B&B to Y&R for two episodes. Exclusive: What Can You Expect From The 2013 Daytime Emmys?

Now that the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony has been scheduled for Sunday, June 16, the question then becomes what can we expect from this year's celebration. So Soaps In Depth went straight to the source for answers: executive producer Gabriel Gornell and senior executive director David Michaels!

This year is the 40th anniversary of the Daytime Emmys as well as THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and with GENERAL HOSPITAL celebrating 50 years on the air, it's the perfect time to celebrate daytime's illustrious history. "We'll definitely be looking at past, present and future with regards to daytime television," Gornell promises. "It's our own 40th and that will anchor the theme. It'll work nicely as we honor all the anniversaries that we'll be celebrating at the same time."

And of course, you can't celebrate history without plenty of clips to illustrate it! "We're going to put particular emphasis on the wonderful clips from years past," he adds. "I can tell you everybody is excited to see wonderful clips celebrating 40 years of achievements. This year, more than any other, we're going to be embracing that."

And while ONE LIFE TO LIVE is technically eligible for awards for its final month of episodes, ALL MY CHILDREN will also be included in the show. "Let's just say that a lot of those actors are part of our 40 year history," Michaels teases, "so it's certainly appropriate [to have them there]."

Additional creative elements such as the names of presenters and a host will be announced in the coming weeks, but Michaels wants soap fans to know that the genre will not be lost in the rest of the daytime programming. "The talk shows are huge right now as are the court shows and the culinary shows," he admits. "But all of that said, still, there are no fans like soap fans. People want to see the soap stars, and they will!"

Daytime Emmys Will Be Held In June

Mark your calendars! The 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards will once again be broadcast over HLN, live from the Beverly Hills Hilton in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 16, from 8:00-10:00 pm EST.

"Last year, HLN's first-ever presentation of the Daytime Emmy® Awards was the #1 most-watched, regularly-scheduled non-news broadcast in the network's history, and received terrific viewer feedback both on-air and online. Our audiences thanked us for tapping into that vital part of American pop culture," says Scot Safon, executive vice president and general manager, HLN. "HLN is the news channel that focuses on stories at the forefront of the American conversation, and daytime programming often tackles those same themes and stories. We are so happy to again present the program that honors the best work in daytime."

There are plans to include viewer interaction with the broadcast, and the names of presenters and special guests will be announced soon. As more details of the ceremony emerge, we'll be sure to share them with you!

Will Rinna Be A Real Housewife?

Rumors have been flying around the Internet recently that Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) would be joining the cast of Bravo's THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS. This wouldn't be the actress' first foray into reality television, having appeared in the 2010 series HARRY LOVES LISA with husband Harry Hamlin, and two seasons of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE.

However, a source close to THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS says that the rumor is just that. A rumor that came out of Rinna's recent appearance on Andy Cohen's Bravo Network talk show WATCH WHAT HAPPENS: LIVE. It's a shame, because she'd probably be a hoot as a REAL HOUSEWIFE!
