Eileen Davidson stirred up considerable excitement when she announced that she'd be returning briefly to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS to reprise her role as Ashley on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March, 19 -- even as she plays vixen Kristen DiMera across the dial on NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES! "I thought I'd be really nervous, but when I got there... it was so much fun!" she declares of playing the dual roles, as it were. "I almost started crying, getting to work with Peter [Bergman, Jack] and Michelle [Stafford, Phyllis] right out of the gate! And being part of the [Nikki/Victor] wedding, I got to touch base with everybody!"

Davidson says that the reason her alter ego jetted back to Genoa City was because she's worried about Jack's love life. "I guess she's heard from Abby that Jack is involved with [Phyllis] and she's nervous about that. She's concerned about Jack now after all the rehab and addiction and everything!" she laughs, acknowledging that Ashley was a no-show during her brother's darkest days.
As for popping up at Victor and Nikki's wedding, Davidson insists that Ashley isn't there to cause trouble. "I think it's basically, it's no skin of her back," she shares. "It's, 'Whatever!' She kind of feels like it's kind of predictable for them to be getting married again. She's not necessarily shocked."
For her part, Davidson says that there was a déjà vu feeling to the scenes. "It was fun to see Eric [Braeden, Victor] and Melody [Thomas Scott, Nikki] in another wedding context," she laughs. It's like, "Again? We're doing this again?"
The showbiz vet admits that the scheduling between the two shows got a bit more hectic than originally anticipated. DAYS was dark the week that she was supposed to shoot Y&R. "But unfortunately Melody was sick, and then Joshua Morrow [Nick] was sick, so... we went back to work the following Monday. So I did DAYS in the morning, and then drove over to CBS and did Y&R in the afternoon!" Despite that, Davidson says that she had no problem getting into the mindset of the very different characters. "I know both of these characters so well, it's really just second nature."
Could Y&R fans be treated to more Ashley sightings in the future? "I don't know," confesses Davidson. "Everything is kind of up in the air right now. It would depend on scheduling. I don't know how that would ever work out. On DAYS, sometimes, I'm doing eight shows a week! But stranger things have happened. Where there's a will, there's a way! So who knows? I love going [to Y&R]... I hope I can go back!"
