Morgan Is Out, Too!

Debbi Morgan's days of playing THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Harmony are coming to an end. On the heels of the news that Marcy Rylan (Abby) and Genie Francis (Genevieve) have been let go by the soap, Morgan has announced that she has been fired as well.

"To all my twitter fans," Morgan posted last night. "Wanted to B the first to tell you the new regime has let me go from Y&R. Will tape my last show Oct. 5th & I move on!"

The ALL MY CHILDREN alum was cast on Y&R as Devon's mother before the ABC soap even aired its final broadcast. While many had high hopes for Morgan's incarnation of the character previously called Yolanda, her storyline unfortunately floundered despite the reveal of Tucker being Devon's biological father. The exits of Francis, Rylan and Morgan come just as the Y&R cast is beginning to shoot the scenes written by new scribe Josh Griffith (his episodes begin to air on October 12), and Soaps In Depth hears that there may still be more cast cuts to come. A spokesperson for Y&R reminds that they do not comment on contracts.

Rylan To Exit Y&R As Well!

Genie Francis (Genevieve) wasn't the only actor given a termination notice by the new regime of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS this week: Marcy Rylan (Abby) has also been let go from the soap.

The actress was cast in the role of Victor and Ashley's daughter in May 2010, shortly after wrapping her stint as GUIDING LIGHT's Lizzie when that show went off the air. Like Francis, Rylan was let go due to budget cuts. Nonetheless, the actress seems to be taking the news in stride. "I had a blast at Y&R and I'm taking all those awesome memories with me!" she tweeted. "I am so excited to see what will come next! Love you all!"

From what our insiders are telling us, Francis and Rylan won't be the only stars to be let go from the soap under Y&R's new regime, so stay tuned!

Who's The Boss?

There's nothing Nicole Forester likes better than a challenge, and she proved it by taking over the role of GUIDING LIGHT's beloved Cassie. Now, she's dropping jaws as Maggie Zajac, the icy, ambitious wife of a gubernatorial candidate in STARZ' hit drama, BOSS. "I'd be interested to see what the GL fans think of this role -- Cassie and Maggie are very different," Forester says (tweet your answer to her at @nicoleforester). "Cassie tried to do things more for herself as a result of years of putting others first and kind of being victim; however, I don't believe Maggie has ever been a victim. She just takes the bull by the horns and either openly or behind the scenes, she is in control!"

The riveting drama, which debuted to rave reviews last year, is currently in its second season, during which Maggie's revealed to have her eye on the governor's mansion. "You'll see Maggie and Chicago's Mayor Kane (Kelsey Grammer) have direct interaction," she offers. "Kane becomes aware that Maggie is really calling the shots with her husband and that Kane's dealing with her more than he ever realized." Don't miss the next episode of BOSS, airing Friday, September 14, at 9 p.m. on STARZ. For more on Forester's post-daytime career, including details about her role in the Tom Cruise film, Jack Reacher, this Christmas, don't miss her upcoming Keeping Track feature in Soaps In Depth.

Y&R's Mitchell Drops To Recurring

Although THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS doesn't comment on actors' contract status or storyline, a glance at the soap's credits would indicate that Julia Pace Mitchell (Sofia) has been put on recurring status with the show. The actress herself confirms it, but confesses she doesn't necessarily mind!

"I'm so happy to be here," she enthuses. "Every time I come to work, I'm excited to see Jeanne [Cooper, Katherine] and Stephen [Nichols, Tucker] work. This show has changed my whole life. It's really cool. These are some of the hardest working actors in show business."

But the free time the actress enjoys when she's not working on Y&R is definitely not going to waste. "I'm starting a hair care company," Mitchell reports. "It's a jojoba oil-based company. I'm doing workshops in Dayton so people can go to to learn about acting, hair care and what it takes to work in this business!"

Daytime Stars Take A Bite Out Of VAMPIRE DIARIES

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has pulled from daytime talent before — series regular Zach Roerig was a big hit as Casey on AS THE WORLD TURNS — and now they're doing it again. According to TV Guide, a couple of daytime actors will be appearing in the primetime soap's fourth season.

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS' Blake Hood (Kyle) and ATWT's Alyssa Diaz (Celia) are slated to play Dean and Kimberly, hybrid vampire/werewolf creators under the control of the villainous Klaus. Hood is scheduled to appear in the fifth episode of the season, and Diaz will first appear in the sixth. Perhaps Diaz will share scenes with former ATWT co-star and on-screen love interest Roerig?

At this time, there's no word from Y&R about how this primetime gig will affect Hood's screentime as Kyle, but seeing as how characters on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES tend not to live very long, it probably shouldn't cause any scheduling conflicts.

ATWT's Noah Romances A Queen

Park Bloom Silberman.jpg

AS THE WORLD TURNS' Jake Silbermann (Noah) has made quite a career for himself on the stage after production of the soap closed down. And now, the talented actor is about to tread the boards once more in the new production of Marie Antoinette for the American Repertory Theater.

"Marie Antoinette is a hysterically funny, achingly sad play about the experience of the doomed Queen," says Silbermann. "The author, David Adjmi, gives us an entirely new take on her experience through the writing and vision of the play. It's extremely vibrant and colorful. It's a very unique telling of Marie's story with talking philosophical sheep and an eclectic soundtrack. Armitage — choreographer of Madonna's 'Vogue' — gives us an opening dance number which is really special. It takes the audience by surprise even when they know it's coming."

Silbermann will be portraying a Swedish count who was historically alleged to be one of Marie Antoinette's lovers. "I'm honored to be playing the role of Axel Von Fersen," he reports, "who shares a complicated relationship with Marie. He is one of the few who understands her."

The "barbed and brassy tragiocomedy" opens on Friday, September 7, and will run through Saturday, September 29, at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, MA. "It's a really special new play with an incredible cast," Silbermann declares. "Brooke Bloom as Marie Antoinette, helmed by our talented director Rebecca Taichman. I'm thrilled to be a part of it!" B&B's Michael Clarke Duncan: RIP

Michael Clarke Duncan, 54, an Oscar-nominee for The Green Mile, passed away on Monday, September 3 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles where he was being treated for a heart attack. Veteran B&B fans may recall Duncan's turn on the half-hour soap as "Slash," Thorne's fellow prisoner in 1995.

"Michael was a gentle giant so filled with a love for acting," Jeff Trachta (ex-Thorne) tells Soaps In Depth. "He was very excited about playing Slash. His mom was a huge B&B fan and Michael asked if I could call her and say, 'Hi.' We did from my dressing room and I remember what a nice son he was and such a kind person. I later laughed because he was asking me for any acting tips, and [in 2000] he was nominated for an Oscar! I promise nothing I said could have improved a thing. He was brilliant!"
