Flynn Shoots For The Moon

RomeFlynn.jpg The phrase "Go big, or go home," is an apt description for how THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's Rome Flynn (Zende) approaches life, but when he came to Los Angeles several years back, abandoning a basketball scholarship to pursue his dream of acting, "going home" to his native Chicago simply wasn't ever an option.

"I sometimes wondered if I made the right decision, but either way, I knew I would never leave California," he says. "It was a choice between sunshine and cold, and, I mean, come on!"

Flynn recently sat down with Soaps In Depth to talk about the journey that led him from wannabe to working actor, including the surprise twist that helped spur him on to success! He may be B&B's newest heartthrob, but that's not at all how he sees himself.

"My angle was never to be a 'sex symbol,' though I will admit I've been working out more, because I pretty much live [shirtless] in that Forrester Sky Lounge on B&B!"

Better Together!

Kristoff St. John (Neil) and Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla) were once magical together on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. Now the dynamic duo is working together on a series of original films about the tight-knit Chandler family for the UP network. Their next, A Baby For Christmas, premieres Sunday, December 13, at 7 p.m. EST and will move their characters' romance forward. "I was more than surprised," St. John admits of learning that he'd be reunited with Rowell in the films. "It had been so long since we took the stage together."

In the last film, UP's ratings juggernaut Marry Us For Christmas, Rowell's character, Stephanie Chandler, was scrambling to plan her daughter's (Malinda Williams) wedding while trying to maintain the family's treasured holiday traditions. This year, she's got a pregnant daughter to look out for, a new romance of her own to balance, and a continued desire to keep their holiday on track. "She's competing with everyone else's lives and new interests and circumstances," Rowell previews, "and also dealing with the digital age... she doesn't like that."

Live tweet with the stars during the premiere at @victoriarowell and @kristoffstjohn1. For more details on the film and the actors' reunion, check out their exclusive joint interview in ABC Soaps In Depth on sale now, and in the next issue of CBS Soaps In Depth on sale Monday, November 30!

"MAJOR" Role For Rikaart!

Greg Rikaart (Kevin, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) did a little moonlighting recently with a role on TNT's law series MAJOR CRIMES. He debuts tonight in the show's regular time slot at 9:00 p.m. ET as Bobby G. Monroe, an anti-death penalty attorney who is defending Slider, the young man awaiting trial for the murder of Alice Herrera.

"Unlike Kevin, [Bobby] has a very clear moral compass and has very black and white ideas about right and wrong," Rikaart tells Soaps In Depth. "It's been really fun to play a departure from Kevin who has moral and ethical fluidity to him."

The Emmy-winner had been in to read for a role during a previous season of MAJOR CRIMES, but while that one didn't work out, producers kept Rikaart in mind and felt he was right for the role of Bobby. "It's extremely flattering," he says. "I've never just been offered a role in my life [without specifically reading for it]. It's pretty cool."

For now, Rikaart is set for four episodes. Might we see more of Bobby? "That I don't know," the actor responds. "My character doesn't go away or die or anything like that."

Thanks to some fortuitous timing and cooperative scheduling between the two shows, Rikaart was able to complete his primetime role without having to take any time away from Genoa City. "It's been a great year for Kevin at Y&R," the actor says. "I had a busy year and have been heavily involved in a bunch of different stories. I'm incredibly grateful."

Return To THE BAY

THE BAY, the wickedly entertaining Web series that took home this year's Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding New Approaches -- Drama Series, is returning with eight new episodes for what's sure to become a December to remember.

Picking up where the story left off nearly a year ago, Bay City socialite Sara Garrett (Mary Beth Evans, Kayla, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) remains behind bars and facing murder charges while her son, Peter, is rebounding from his emotional break-up with his Mrs. Robinson (aka Janice; played by Lilly Melgar, ex-Lily, GENERAL HOSPITAL) by getting all hot and bothered with his other super hot ex, Vivian. What he doesn't know is that Janice has just been brutally raped and is now being verbally assaulted by Lianna (Jade Harlow; ex-Sheryl, DAYS), who found out about their affair. Making matters worse, Sara's conniving husband, Steve Jensen (Matthew Ashford, ex-Jack, DAYS; ex-Tom, GH) is scheming to get his hands on her money while a volatile John Blackwell (Ronn Moss, ex-Ridge, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) is plotting to take down the Garretts in an even darker way.

Can Sara get released in time to save her family AND her fortune? The answers are coming beginning with two back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, December 1, and another on Thursday, December 3. The rest of the season will be unveiled every Tuesday and Thursday through December 22. For a sneak peak, check out the promo here.

No Regrets

John_McCook82504.jpg THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL's John McCook (Eric) may be a terrific actor, but when it comes to that broad smile which seems permanently etched upon his face, that's no put-on. He really is that content with the life he's carved out for himself and the career that he forged by never passing on an opportunity that fell at his feet.

Soaps In Depth caught up with McCook when he visited New York City as part of B&B's pop-up fan event in September. Being in the City That Never Sleeps reminded the actor of his early career in musical theater and the crossroads he reached when Hollywood offered him an opportunity to make his mark in film and television.

"If I had stayed in New York all those years ago, I could have been a contender [on stage] in a way that I probably wouldn't have been 10 years later," he says, "but Warner Bros. signed me to a contract and sent me home to Southern California."

Find out why he has no regrets about trading in Broadway dreams for a stable career at B&B in the latest issue of our magazine, on-sale now!
